- Puppy Rescue Success Story -

Meet Chap - a 4 month old, male, Jack Russell terrier

Chap, a 4 month old male Jack Russell Terrier, was rescued to give him a better chance for getting a new home. When Chap was rescued, on his first day home, he drooled with fear and had never eliminated anywhere but through outside of a cage. By day 2, he had learned to eliminate on the grass on cue. He proved to be a very fast learner who was calm, gentle, and very loving.

He learned to sit politely before going outdoors or indoors and to be greeted. He learned to watch as he walks without pulling on leash and to sit when the person walking stops. He races to the person who calls him and will sit, lie down, and roll-over on cue. He loves playing fetch but he will settle on a mat and chew to keep himself occupied without whining or barking for attention. After not being allowed to chase James, the cat, he nestles next to him on the couch. Chap learned to allow all gentle handling and to settle in a kennel.  In the evening, he loved to snuggle and sleep on someone's lap. Chap learned how to be an Ideal House Dog!  He completed Dr. Rolan Tripp's Ideal Dog Program in two weeks to prepare him for success in his new home.

Chap was placed in a home with Eddie (the human) and Zoie (the 7 year old Australian Cattle dog mix), 3 cats and a large family. He would thrive in obedience, agility, and fly ball but is happy with two walks daily and lots of companionship.

If everyone went to Shelters to get their pets, puppy mills could be put out of business and pets would not be given death sentences due to over- crowding.

Pet Behavior Education is the Key!

Chap and Toffee Play Outdoor and Indoor Contented Confinement Training
When families understand why pets act as they do, how to read their pet's body language and how to communicate better with the pet, families are more satisfied with pet relationships and find it easier to live with indoor pets as members of the family.
